Medina is Islam’s second holiest city. Its population is about 150,000. It is located in a fertile plain in western Saudi Arabia, north of Mecca. Only Muslims may enter it.

Muhammad lies buried in Medina. Many pilgrims, after performing the hajj rites in Mecca, go to Medina to visit the tomb of the Prophet.

PRAYER

Almighty God our Savior, reveal yourself to the people of Medina as the resurrected, living Redeemer and Lord. You are not in a tomb.

I pray for the rulers and leaders of this city. May they see the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray that the citizens of Medina will humble themselves before you and seek your face.

I pray against the attitude of triumphalism that has pervaded this city since its early Islamic history. May Medina respond positively to the gospel of Christ, accept his claims, and crown him Lord Supreme over the House of Islam.

PROMISE

[Christ], having disarmed the powers and authorities…made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:15, NIV).

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them (Isaiah 42:16, NIV).
