Because of the cross, we are endowed with countless amazing blessings—forgiveness of sins, eternal life, peace, joy, and the list goes on. But one of these blessings is that the Lord Jesus Christ makes us God’s children.
One of the early saints remarked in a prayer, “We would not change places with angels, much less with kings of the earth. To be indeed your sons and daughters—the thought of it does bring to our soul a present heaven.”1
It is clear that Muhammad gave the world a fatherless religion; Muslims do not believe that God is their Father. Because of that, alert onlookers conclude that Islam is a religion of spiritual orphans where people have no heavenly father.2
1 C. H. Spurgeon, The Electronic Bible Society, 1999, Prayer 9.
2 For an example, see Samuel Zwemer’s: The Moslem Doctrine of God, 1905, p. 110.
PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, holy is your name. May your kingdom come. Thank you for bringing us into your family and making us your sons and daughters. How blessed we are! And what an awesome responsibility we have!
We bring Muslims all over the world to you. We pray that you will soften their hearts, that the shroud over their hearts will be removed, that the veil covering their minds will be torn down (Isaiah 25:7), and that they will take hold of your eternal desire to make them into sons and daughters of God.
That is your desire, Almighty God, to take fallen humans, marred vessels, misshapen beings and make us into a new creation.
Blessed be your name. Amen.
PROMISE
As for those who did accept him, that is, those who believed in his name, he gave them the right to become the children of God (John 1:12, SEB).
