Thousands of Muslim converts to Christ are suffering today because of their faith in Jesus. They are harassed by police, religious authorities, family, neighbors, and others. Their homes are ransacked. Their Bibles and Christian books are confiscated and burned. Some lose their jobs. They are treated cruelly, beaten and tortured, and their lives are threatened. Some are even sent to mental hospitals to break their wills. Many have been executed or murdered for no other reason than following Christ!
PRAYER
I pray for my Christian brothers and sisters who are afflicted and are suffering. May they receive special strength from you, Lord Jesus, who suffered on our behalf.
O God, the Father of all comfort, wipe the tears from their eyes. Be a wall of fire around them. Be their Defender. Break through the dark night of suffering with a revelation of the glory of Jesus to comfort them, soothe their pain and fill their hearts with joy. I stand firmly with them, pleading the blood of Jesus. May they continue to hold fast to their faith and stand firm in their witness for Christ. Merciful Father, help them, and us as well, to learn obedience through suffering (Hebrews 5:8).
Gird them with power to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Through their suffering teach them humility and perseverance.
I pray for their persecutors. May your Holy Spirit convict them of their sin against you and of their inhumane acts against fellow human beings.
PROMISE
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:10, NIV).
