This week we pray about the attempt to validate Muhammad’s Prophethood
The Bible has powerfully impacted the lives of millions of people throughout history. Even Muslims unwillingly realize the importance of the Bible. So, from the beginning of Islam, its defenders have tried to use the Bible to validate Muhammad’s prophethood. That is truly amazing, especially since Muslims claim they do not believe the Bible. But in this case, they run to it for help!
For example, they say that Moses was referring to Muhammad when he prophesied that God would send another prophet (Deuteronomy 18:15,18). They also say that Jesus was referring to Muhammad when he predicted the coming of the Holy Spirit (John 14-16).
These, along with other similar claims, are far from the truth. The Bible makes it clear that Moses’ prophecy referred to Jesus (John 1:45; Acts 7:37). Jesus himself confirms that interpretation (John 5:46). Plus, a brief look at Jesus’ description of the Holy Spirit’s activities and role would convince any reasonable person that Muhammad is not the Holy Spirit!
PRAYER
Lord Christ, God the Son, in awe and love I come to you. I have been born again and have eternal life because of your sacrifice for me. Thank you for your grace and mercy.
I pray for Muslims around the world today. They use these arguments like a drowning person who grasps at a straw. Set them free from such wishful thinking and vain attempts to prove something that is not true. Open their eyes to see the truth, O Lord. Your Word says that you came and gave us understanding to know the true God (1 John 5:20). I pray for Muslims to receive this understanding from you. May they acknowledge you, our Redeemer, as the only Lord and Savior. Fill them with the Holy Spirit who frees from error and confusion. Give them a wise mind that they may know and do your will. All glory to you. Amen.
PROMISE
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is God’s Son, God dwells in him and he in God (1 John 4:15, REB).
