JANUARY 26, 2024
For several years Algerians have suffered indescribable atrocities and mass killings because of the struggle between fundamentalist Muslims and g o v e r n m e n t forces. Civilians are caught in this vicious war where sometimes whole families, entire neighborhoods, and even villages are wiped out.
As we have prayed for peace for the peoples of Algeria, God has answered our prayers. In the past several months there has been a respite of relative calm, though eruptions of violence and killings take place from time to time.
Also, God has been answering our prayers in that many Algerians are now coming to Christ, finding in him their peace, hope and assurance.
PRAYER
God of peace, you who rule over the nations with justice and mercy, we intercede for Algerian Muslims. We know that many of them are disillusioned with their religion because of the bloodshed under the banner of Islam. May they become serious seekers of your truth and accept Christ who is the Truth. May they turn to you in greater and greater numbers.
Lord Jesus, you said that the devil is a murderer. Continue, Almighty Lord, to keep in check the killing and slaying of innocent people.
Empower Algerian believers with the Holy Spirit to bring many others of their compatriots to the Kingdom of God. Bless them with a special understanding of your Word. Fill them with courage to stand firm in their testimony for you. May your Church in Algeria be blessed with the gift of unity and not fall prey to the plots of the enemy who plants discord and divisions.
PROMISE
Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen (Hebrews 13:20-21, NLT).
